As a commercial cleaning company, we are often asked to perform our duties in the evening, overnight or during hours when businesses are closed.  The reason for this is to keep the disruption of the businesses to a minimum and to allow us to do our jobs without being hindered by having to work around employees.  However, there is strong evidence to suggest that for some industries, daytime cleaning might be more beneficial.  What is daytime cleaning? Daytime cleaning is a term used to describe the restructuring of the cleaning system to enable cleaners to provide services during the normal working day. Below are listed some advantages to using a daytime cleaning system.

·         Reduced Energy Consumption – Cleaning during the day can save money on lighting and HVAC costs.  If cleaning is done during regular working hours, no additional lights need to be turned on after hours and HVAC systems can be turned off. 

·         Increased Workers’ Efficiency – Washrooms, work places, and pantries where employees and clients come and go usually start out clean at the beginning of the day and get messy as the hours pass.  With daytime cleaning, these places are tidied and cleaned throughout the day. Cleaner workplaces have a direct effect on its workers. Workers tend to work more efficiently with tidier surroundings.

• Enhanced Security During Nighttime – With everyone gone after business hours, facilities can be fully secured and all entry and exit points can remain locked.  This protects sensitive materials and employee properties inside the building.

• Better Communication – Because cleaners are present during working hours, the maintenance department or person overseeing the contract can interact face to face.  This reduces the chances of miscommunication and helps create trust.

• Improves Bad Housekeeping – Daytime cleaning can improve some bad employee habits.  Messy individuals may be less inclined to leave mess around or discard trash carelessly if they know a cleaner is present.

• Better Fulfillment – Having cleaners onsite enable things like toilet tissue, hand towels and soap supplies to be replenished as needed.
