Preserving Your Carpet

We all know how striking carpeting can be when used in a commercial setting.  From entrance mats to lobbies to offices, they can create a warm, welcoming effect.  But carpets are also functional and can help minimize the amount of water and dirt that are tracked through your building.  Keeping carpets clean and fresh can best be done by a professional company that is trained in carpet care.

According to The Carpet and Rug Institute Inc., there are four corners of carpet maintenance.

1.       Preventative - Stopping soils from entering the facility with matting and entrance cleaning.

2.       Daily - Removing dry soil daily using vacuums.  Spotting to remove wet and oily substances.

3.       Interim – Appearance-based cleaning and pile lifting.

4.       Restorative – Restoration cleaning designed to restore the carpet to its original condition.

ENTRANCE MATTING

By using the proper entrance matting, you can substantially decrease the amount of water, dirt and snow that is tracked into your facility.  This type of carpet usually has an embossed pattern that scrapes shoes and wheels clean, while the open grid portion allows dirt and debris to fall away, stopping it from being tracked inside while trapping moisture.  These carpets need the proper cleaning to remove not only the dirt and moisture but the salt stains that can occur during the winter season.  By working closely with our suppliers, we can source the right product to clean this type of matting to keep it working at its optimum level.

CARPET LIFE CYCLE

When it comes to the life of your carpet, there are some things you should know.  The warranties that come with your carpet are based on scheduled maintenance.  The Carpet and Rug Institute Inc. actually prescribes frequency minimums for carpet cleaning and leading carpet mills have maintenance guidebooks prescribing frequency minimums.  LEED certified facilities are required to have a carpet program/log. The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration’s S100 carpet cleaning standard has detailed cleaning guidelines for their institute’s certification.  A good cleaning company will be familiar with these organizations and requirements and will be proficient in carpet cleaning practices.

It's important to remember that soil is abrasive and causes fiber damage that reduces the life expectancy of carpets.  Therefore, cleaning and maintaining them regularly will increase the amount of time you will be able to enjoy the look of your carpet and extend the time necessary before having to replace it.  At Wright Cleaning Services Inc., we can work with you to set up an efficient program for cleaning and maintaining your carpets.  Our experience has taught us that using the right products and equipment in your facility will keep your carpets looking their best.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve just installed new carpet or it’s been around for a while, we at Wright Cleaning Services Inc. would be happy to work with you to set up a cleaning and maintenance schedule.  We understand that your business is unique and will work with you to come up with the perfect solution that fits your budget.  As we go forward in this new year, let Wright Cleaning Services Inc. become a trusted partner.
