What is a DIN Number?
One of the benefits of living in a country like Canada is that we have organizations like Health Canada that are responsible for ensuring that the products we purchase have undergone extensive testing to ensure that they are safe for us to use.
WHAT IS A DIN NUMBER?
A DIN number is an eight digit Drug Identification Number that is a computer-generated and assigned by Health Canada to a drug product before being marketed in Canada. Most chemicals used in Canada as disinfectants or antimicrobials like disinfectant cleaners, disinfectant wipes, antibacterial hand soaps and sanitizers are regulated as drugs. The DIN verifies that the product has been independently tested and proven to be an effective disinfectant and the DIN number will be printed on the label to show that the product has been evaluated and authorized for sale in Canada.
It is important to note that any products used in Canada that come from other countries must meet the criteria of the Canadian standards and carry a DIN number.
