Why Fogging Is Effective
Over the last year with the onset of Covid-19, we have become even more aware of how important disinfecting is when cleaning. At Wright Cleaning Services Inc., we use multiple ways of disinfecting to ensure that our clients have the cleanest and healthiest workplace environment possible. One of the processes we use is fogging.
WHAT IS FOGGING?
In the fogging cleaning process, disinfectant is poured into a fogging machine where it is then released into the atmosphere as a fog or mist. This offers an extra layer of protection to your facility’s environment. There are many types and variations of foggers that allow ease of handling and fogging options.
HOW DOES FOGGING WORK?
Once the fogger is turned on, the disinfecting product is atomized into the air. The fog then settles, making it much easier to disinfect crevices and cracks or areas that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to clean by hand. By using dry fogging disinfection, areas which are touched frequently like desktops, keyboards, doorknobs and doors can get that extra layer of protection.
There is usually a three-step process in fogging disinfection:
The space is cleaned with a cleaner to remove soil and debris.
The area will then be treated manually with a disinfectant to deactivate the pathogen.
The fogging process is carried out.
It should be noted that in order for the fogging process to be done properly, areas that are going to be disinfected should be decluttered to allow maximum penetration and effectiveness.
WHAT ARE SOME TYPES OF FOGGING?
Chemical Fogging – chemical disinfectants are sprayed manually on areas in the form of fogs or mists. (Often used in the food industry)
Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide – hydrogen peroxide is fumigated into the space through a mobile system or the fogger can be connected to an outlet in your workspace and be released into the atmosphere. (Often used in the pharmaceutical industry.
Ozone Fogging – as this type of fogging is harmful to humans, this should only be done in empty spaces. This type of fogging is effective for removing smells such as smoke from fires.
Chlorine Dioxide – this type of fogging uses an environmentally safe gas that breaks down into harmless sodium salts.
Ionization – air travels through ionizing tubes to create ions that attract airborne pathogens, effectively deactivating them and eliminating them from the air.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TYPE OF FOGGING IS RIGHT FOR ME?
There are protocols and safety measures that must be taken when fogging. That is why hiring a competent, professional cleaner is critical to ensure that your work environment is cleaned and disinfected safely and properly. At Wright Cleaning Services Inc., we work together with our clients to create a personalized plan that meets their individual needs. If you are looking to increase the health and safety of your workplace environment, I would be happy to meet with you. Never before have our cleaning processes and procedures been more important. Maybe now is the time to put your trust in the professionals and let us help you stay safe and healthy.
