Keeping Your Office Clean

Hiring a professional cleaner to make sure that your office space is cleaned and disinfected properly ensures that your employees are working in the most hygienic environment possible.  By working with your cleaner to set up a cleaning and maintenance schedule, you can rest easy knowing that the best work is being done for you.

But what about in between cleaner visits?  Are there things you and your employees can do to help keep your environment as hygienic as possible between cleanings? The answer is yes, there are habits and daily tasks that can easily be done to promote health and well-being.  Below is a list of things you and your staff can do on a daily basis

  • Reduce Clutter - Keep work areas free from clutter whenever possible. Not only is clutter a safety hazard, but it has a negative impact on the mood and thought processes of employees. Setting aside a few minutes at the end of the day to remove unwanted items for work areas sets employees up for a fresh start the next morning.

  • Use Alcohol Desk Wipes – Make it a habit to wipe down telephones, keyboards, tablets and anything else that employee hands touch at least once a day. Making sure each employee has a supply of wipes at each desk will ensure that they can quickly wipe things down when they have a few minutes. This is especially important if someone else has used their workstation, phone etc.

  • No Eating At Desks – Whenever possible, try to keep employees from eating at their desks.  It is very easy to drop crumbs and food particles into keyboards and on the floor.  Food that is not cleaned up can produce bacteria and make a work area look messy.  If it is unavoidable to have an employee eat at their desk, make sure they are accountable for cleaning up after themselves.

  • Dispose of Boxed and Packaging Immediately – Boxes and packaging should be removed immediately from work areas as large pieces of cardboard, tape and plastic can be both a slip and fall hazard as well as a fire hazard.

By putting a few simple policies in place regarding office work areas, you can easily keep them clean and hygienic between regular commercial cleanings.  When first meeting with our clients to create a plan that is specific to their unique needs, we can assess your work areas and make recommendations on how keep them clean and healthy.  We have been trained to recognize problem areas and can help you with knowledgeable advice.
